DEMERIT POINTS & high-speed offences

If you accumulate too many demerit points or are convicted of a high-speed offence (more than 40 km/h over the speed limit) your licence will be suspended.  After accumulating 12 or more demerit points, a driver is given the option of either having their licence suspended for 6 months or entering a Good Driver Behaviour period for a period of 12 months.  Under a Good Driver Behaviour order the driver is allowed only 1 demerit point and if they accumulate more than 1 point during that period, their licence will be suspended.
